Thanks for the reply, but be advised QOCH is not a surname but means QUEENS OWN CAMERON HIGHLANDERS. a British Army Regiment. Thanks

The advised procedure (though admittedly not everyone sticks to it) in genealogical circles is that surnames are written in capitals, and that you don't use abbreviations which other people may not be familiar with/could cause confusion.

Thanks for that, however having posted on a Military oriented site , the abbreviation QOCH would have been recognised for what it is

Sorry to disagree with you this site is British-Genealogy.com it is only sponsered by Forces War Records so is not a Military oriented site. (There are lots of people that come on the site that Know there Military stuff)

Due to it being the Centenary of the beginning of WW1 there are lots more folks taking an interest in looking for War related records. I have been researching for years and I didn't know what QOCH stood for.

I have just come back to the Site after being away for a few years, and thought the site had been taken over as there are so many military questions.

Apologies where due for any confusion.
Clever Digit Media operates this site now, it is still a general genealogy forum , and one of the very best of course!
However it is advertised via CDMs website at Forces war records so hence any confusion.
