Looking for C W (Charles Walter) COOPER WWI

I am looking for any details of my Great Grandfather Charles Walter Cooper (b. 1880)
One of his three medals has 7871 C W COOPER - 1-N Staff.R engraved on it.
Family story goes that he was taken POW twice during WWI.

I can find no records online that correspond with these details.
Appreciate any help.

That is interesting, National Archives has this -

North Staffordshire Regiment but another name.
There is a Charles Walter Cooper - https://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ils/r/D1934975 - he was a pow according to the card on Ancestry.
But he may have served with using his middle name - and there are lots of them

I did find the POW record of Charles Walter Cooper on the newly online records at: https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/ but unfortunately he was in the Norfolk Battalion and had a different birthdate.

It really is a mystery, but thankyou for looking for me.

There has probably been some wear to the medal inscriptions - he was actually 7671 - awarded the 1914 Star - landed 10/9/1914 as well as the British War Medal and the Victory Medal

On an iPad while babysitting at the moment but will look further later if no one else gets there first

On Ancestry, trio, no mention of POW and nothing on IRC
Cant see service records, so without them pow is just speculation

His Medal Roll Index card has him as Chas W Cooper and I am reading it that he received the British and Victory medals but not the 15 Star as there are no 'do' marks under the roll and page number opposite the Star entry. However if Goldsquirrel has the 3 medals then I am wrong and shouldn't take everything literally.

The card itself is for the 14 star, see the top bit and the printed roll etc.
