I have just joined the War Records site, found my father in law amongst the list, but not able to go any further, is there a reason why? Can anyone advise, as I would now like to know where he was stationed etc.

Welcome to British-Genealogy Boulton family
Are we talking about WW11 here because if so his service records you require are still held by the MOD and not accessible online. You have to apply for them. This 'sticky" explains.

It's worth also contacting FWR support directly as they will
Advise on what soy re the record came from and possibly where other records can be found.

Help is what we are here for
It will be a long wait for the records I think as so many people are applying at the moment but well worth it.
Also The National Archives site holds war diaries Here which may help, once you know his regiment and battalion, to fill out the details of his service.
