Henry Davis transferred from the Army to RAF November 1918 and discharged December 1919. RAF record of service found at The National Archives but not his army records, any advice / thoughts locating these would be appreciated.

George Arthur Scarff transferred from the Army to RAF in 1919 and discharged 1922. RAF service number is, 302825, MOD ( RAF Cranwell ) state they do not hold either his army or RAF records of service, any advice / thoughts locating these would be much appreciated.

    Hello Gunhill,

    Welcome to British-Genealogy.

    Re Henry Davis.
Over 60% of WWI army service records were destroyed before the end of WW2, so anyone who finds a service record for an ancestor has to think themselves lucky. Have you checked on Ancestry and/or Findmypast, as they have the remaining service records. With Davis as the surname you will probably need further information such as date and place of birth.

    re George Arthur Scarff.
Ditto re WW1 army service records, though Scarff is a more uncommon surname. (Still liable to mistranscription such as Scartt though! Or even Scott.)

According to page 9 of this records for RAF airmen whose service ended in 1928 or earlier the records should be at The National Archives.
(Something that I didn't know, so a little more information to add to my brain cells. )

His army medal records should be available, even if his records have gone.
