    Default Abrahams from Holland

Abraham Abrahams c1802 first appears on the 1851 Census in Gravel Lane, Houndsditch with wife Rachel and 9 children (Israel, Anna, Sarah, Jane, Jeanette, Esther, Selina & Deborah) plus Alexander listed seperately, all born Amsterdam, Holland.

Abraham, a jeweller/goldsmith, died c1864 (GRO cert waiting the postman).

I have an amount of subsequent data on the children but is there any mention of Abraham anywhere besides the above? JC etc, trade publications, etc

    thanks

I have seen a copy on Ancestry.Com of the GRO Death Certificate for Abraham Abrahams:
22 February 4 Gravel Lane Abraham ABRAHAMS 63 Jeweller, Gold and Silversmith- Cause of Death Paralysis; Apoplexy. Informant Levy Groenewoud 3 Tilley Street.
Levy Groenewoud appears in The Jewish Victorian. Genealogical Information from the Jewish Newspapers 1861-70 transcribed and edited by Doreen Berger,2004 Publisher Robert Boyd
Levy GROENEWOUD - Mr and Mrs Levy Groenewoud, Watchers and Nurses to the Sick, removed to 117 Leman Street Whitechapel .14.6.1869. Levy's mother Rose GROENEWOUD died 24.11.1870 at 117 Leman Street.

The Era 19 December 1847 recorded a fire at 4 Gravel Lane workshop in which watches, timepieces and work tools were destroyed but damage covered by Sun Fire Policy. You might want to look on JewishGen UK London traders data base and Insurance records for Abraham and on 1851 Census Data base to see if there is additional data. See also UK National Archives for Data on Abraham.
