Hi I have found my grandfathers mirage certificate.
His trooper number was 533816
Based at cavalry barracks fulford road York.
From past stories I think he was a cook/chef but I am unable to find anything on the 8th hussars.
Any help to point me in the right direction would be great.

Hi
Given the number fits in this range - 528001 to 721000 Hussars , I would say WW2.
Read the headings at the beginning of the page to apply for WW2 service records.
A bit on them - https://www.nam.ac.uk/research/famous...-irish-hussars

War diaries are amongst this list - https://discovery.nationalarchives.go...v=&name=Search

He was married in April 1925 at the age of 25.
He lied about his age and was 15 when he joined.
Around 1910

Hi Robert
I would like to thank you again, with the info you gave me I was able to find his enlisting papers.
It turns out he said he was 19 while he was only 15 years old.
Thanks again.

Hi Kathleen
Well done and no problems
Lots of soldiers lied about their age, either way!
regards
Robert
