Muir/Wallace Help

Hello,

I am looking for help with finding MUIR and WALLACE.

Starting with John Muir. I have John MUIR born in Carnwath, Lanarkshire*, Scotland - b. between 1715 and 1725.
He married a Janet (Last name unknown at this time).
Possible parents are John Muir and Janet Lindsay (A John Muir was born in Lanark in 1719 to John Muir and Janet Lindsay so I've counted these as possibles)
*Assuming Carnwath since Janet was born there...

John and Janet had children:
Janet Muir b. 1745 Carnwath, Lanarkshire ** My Ancestor
Margaret Muir b. 1750
Mary Muir b. 1753
John Muir b. 1755


Janet married Richard Wallace - I've not been able to find a marriage record for them.

Richard Wallace was b. abt 1739 Carnwath and died 1792 Carstairs. I'd like to be able to locate the father and mother of Richard.

Richard and Janet had 3 (so far as I can find right now) children - Richard, Robert and William.

I am all out of Scotland's People credit and if anyone has any ideas clues hints or something to helping me narrow down.... that'd be great!

Also, I'd love to have help finding actual stories of these people and what roles did they possibly have in the shaping of Scotland?

In Scotland, the information included in an entry depended entirely on the whim of the Parish Minister. Some included extra info (one Fife Minister included info such as who the child was named for and what the father did), others went for the minimalist approach (I have one marriage entry where he didn't even record the name of the bride!). Over the years, I've been slowly transcribing a set of parish records for my one place study, and the pattern is clear - over the decades, as the handwriting changes, the style and content of the entries also change.
