Question Finding records in Middlesex Regiment

I have just registered, hoping to find information on my grandfather and his elder brother. His brother, 2Lt Frederick William Andre, was killed in action on 16 August 1917 at Passchendaele, aged 26, and I found his record on this web site, but the site gave no info beyond what I already knew. I hoped to find his service number, actual unit within the Middlesex Regiment, and more information about his service record, as I am sure he must have been commissioned from the ranks. Any info on these would be useful. As for my grandfather, Reginald Oliver Andre, I found no record at all on this web site, but I have just about all the information I need; I have his Army Book and documents for enlistment (13 November 1915) and demobilisation (10 April 1919), unit 4/10 DCO Middlesex Regiment and his army numbers on enlistment (4697) and demobilisation as a Sgt (606545). Can anyone help explain why I found no record of my grandfather or how it might be possible to find more useful information on his brother? Many thanks in anticipation.

    Hello Giles,

You are now on British-Genealogy, a forum for helping people trace their ancestors.
Our sponsors are Forces War Records, and that is the site you searched for details of Frederick and Reginald.
FWR's Military Genealogy Guide will explain why you can't find service records on their site. Of the approximately 30% that still exist, besides being available at The National Archives they are available on other subscription sites such as Ancestry and Findmypast.
