    You should be able to find Peter McLaren's medal roll index card. If his service record hasn't survived, it may be possible to track down his battalion number by following up the medal roll references. This can't be done online.

    The card is available on Ancestry, or on National Archives site. You have to pay either way, Ancestry is clearer and shows both sides (but usually the reverse is blank)
