RE William Hargan b 1855,,,i can see a discharge document for the Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) - 2nd Foot in 1876.....he served 3 years,,,no date of birth is given,,,but there is a note stating he was to be reattested as an army schoolmaster...chasing that up I have found a death for a William Hargan in Muttra,Bengal on the 8th July 1880,,,he was a schoolmaster for the Hussars,,,died age 24 of enteric fever,,,,so b c1855/56.

Amelia Pittman was married previously to Edward Armstrong Hanna. Edward was in the 2nd Foot also but looking at some trees on Ancestry it appears that he died in action in 1851. No hard evidence as yet. But they did have a son John Charles Hanna.

Ok I have just found Edward Armstong Hanna on a Army Deserters List on FMP. Deserted 25th November 1840, doesn't mention if he was caught or where he was when he deserted the Army.
