World War 2 records can only be obtained from the Ministry of Defence.
The Commonwealth War Graves commission site has a Dennis Moss commemorated in Tunisia:

If he was shot down in Burma, that must have been before he was killed 18 Jan 1943 in Tunisia. Only by applying to the MoD for his service record will you be able to substantiate that.

Thanks Megan. We live in Australia. Can you give me any advice about how to go about getting MOD info ?
The family 'legend' was that Den flew a spitfire and was shot down in Tunisia. Burma has got us guessing !
So grateful for your reply

Hello Megan,
new to this and not sure if you get these messages. I have found out about MOD info, thank you anyway. Now have to think about contacting them. The mystery is what I have says Den died in Burma, is commemorated in Tunisia but I cannot find anything on the net about his squadron being in Burma.
Once again, thank you for initial contact back, kind regards, Maureen

The CWGC entry confirms his grave reference in the cemetery in Tunisia so he is actually buried there - not "commemorated" as was normally done if a body couldn't be recovered so think he must have have died relatively close by - certainly not on another continent

Thank you so much Sue, (I am also in NSW). It has been difficult to understand, so that is a relief.
