    Default Proper English?!

I was trawling through an American newspaper from 1885, and the subtitles in the family announcement section were:

    Cradle
    Alter
    Tomb

So if this had become widely adopted today would we be using "CAT" rather than "BMD"???

A bit of a coincidence because as you were posting this I was reading about 'correct' English usage eg finishing a sentence with a preposition. (we all do it and the 'rules' are sometimes better ignored)

So the companies who are putting images of BMD's online are actually doing CAT scans? And I thought it was only a medical term.

Thinking about it it is probably just as well we are searching for BMD's and not CAT's in a search engine, or we would get 1000's of Youtube cat videos.
