Default Trying to Find Birth - Mary Rigby

OK, now you all know I'm pretty rusty, been some time since I've been on here, but gradually I've been sorting through some files, finding some "missing" certs and so on...

Also trying to order a few missing ones, but I'm really struggling to find a birth for my 2 x great grandmother so I can order her certificate... Probably staring right at it, but be kind to me, it's been a while!!

So looking for birth of Mary Rigby, approx 1847-1849 in Wigan, Lancs to parents William Rigby and Esther Lee

    Thanks all!

    Hello
Just as a little back ground to Mary this is the 1851 reference

    HO107 piece 2200 folio 380 page 32
William Rigby 31 Quarry Man born Billinge
    Esther Rigby 29 Billinge
    John Rigby 8 Winstanley
    Thomas Rigby 4 Winstanley
Mary Rigby 2 born Winstanley Lancashire
    Joseph Rigby 1 Winstanley

Now to see what else is out there

    On FreeBMD

Dec 1/4 1848 Mary Rigby reg dist. Wigan vol 21 page 745

Winstanley is in the Wigan reg district

If you want to order the birth certificate then you can stipulate that the parents must be William and Esther. You will be charged initially but if it is not the right one you will get a refund.

Thanks Christanel, told you I probably couldn't see it for looking, will order the certificate now. How do I say that I'm only interested if the parents are William and Esther? Just put their names in the relevant boxes and that's enough? I usually order via GRO

I knew you were going to ask that! It is so long since I had to order a certificate I have forgotten. I did go in to GRO and fill in the details to try and see where to put the proviso but I had ticked the reference known box and that didn't seem to help so I went back and tried to do it by ticking the reference not known box but I got a message saying my order basket was being processed and I would have to wait 14 minutes to try again! If I receive the certificate I will let you know!!

I can only suggest you tick the box reference not known and see what happens.

    Just a thought
Hold of ordering for a little while to see if someone comes along with a more definite answer.

You were right Christina, the reference NOT known box must be ticked to order using parents as the checking points. If no certificate can be found with the right parents names, no cert will be sent and the payment refunded.

What would I do without you - I'll untick my reference known box, and order away!

I'm unbelievably excited to actually be getting back into this...
