Filed under SCOTTEN in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363), but suspiciously mysterious that I suspect the lad could be HORTON. A sister & 2 brothers are mentioned - all address unknown. I can find no birth for a Thomas of either name between 1878 & 1898 although there are 2 "Male" SCOTTENs (1881 Pancras & 1891 St Saviour). Perhaps the latter?
Thomas Horton SCOTTEN, declared born Edmonton (and is discharged to an Edmonton address). Worked for The United Flexible Metallic Tubing Co in Stratford, London. Enlisted April 1909, declaring age as 19y 11m. Brothers John & George, sister Ada. Discharged 1919. Reg Nos: 7544 & 28101.
There is a badly damaged letter from a Sanatorium in Hertfordshire, dated 1939, which appears to be asking for details of his Next of Kin. He is referred to as "Thomas SCOTTEN or HORTON".
Anc****y, SCO, pages 52748 to 52798 (some badly damaged & very scrappy)
