I know the service number W.P. Brown but I can get no information on this site, does anyone know where I could turn to next? Is the site only for Officers and medal recipients?

    Welcome to British-Genealogy susiebrown

If you W P Brown was in WW11 then his records are only available from the MoD See this sticky

If it is WW1 then if you would like to give us some more details we can see if we can find himfor you. Birth date, place, parent/s/wife's name. Anything to distinguish him from the crowd. However 60% + of WW1 service and pension records were destroyed by bombing/fire in WW11 so it is a bit of a lottery who's records survived. There should be a medal roll index card for him though.

    Hi Christina

Not if he was airforce, they had no medal cards, unless previously in the army.
Airforce records for WW1 are on Find My Past.

    Hi Robert
thanks for correcting me. I got started on my standard response and didn't stop! It is comforting to know that I have others looking out for my blunders.
