After the very moving Normandy broadcasts I am trying to find out my fathers (Mauice (Morry) Phillips war record, all I know is that he served in the 24th Lancers.

All Service Records after 1920 to the present day are still with the Ministry of Defence. There is a note at the top of this forum, we call them stickies, which explains how to go about obtaining copies of the records.
I received my Dad's records today after applying in March so it won't be a quick turnaroundSadly, our dear friend Ann (alias Ladkyis) passed away on Thursday, 26th. December, 2019.

Hi
In here - https://discovery.nationalarchives.go...=&_fr=&_st=adv
amongst the recommendations for gallantry awards, are the war diaries for the 24 Lancers, they are not online, so you have to go to National Archives, or you can pay someone to photo them.
Once you get his records, then you can use them to see where he went.
regards
Robert
