This new thread is part of my ongoing research into the various Lyons families relationships to my Hart/Jacobs/Levey lines.
Some brief data on BB Lyons and hsi marriage to Louise Sophia Nerwich appears on the Jacobstree website which contains significant data on my Jacobs lines including those of my various distant cousins and associated families.
My research into Benjamin Bernard Lyons is still ongoing but does fill in missing gaps. The Jewish Victorian. Genealogical Information from the Jewish Newspapers 1871-80 transcribed and edited by Doreen Berger, 1999 Publisher Robert Boyd contains the Death record for Louisa Sophia Lyons nee NERWICH- Death 23.5.1880 at Mossel Bay South Africa early beloved wife of BB LYons and eldest beloved daughter of Henry Nerwich, 39 Sutherland Gardens St Peter's Park formerly of Dublin aged 30. The record identifies Harriette Matilda Nerwich sister; Philip D Jacobs brother in law; Lizzie Emma Nerwich sister; I Jacobs brother in law; Elizabeth Jacobs grandmother; Henry Jacobs grandfather. The website South African Settlers also contains the Death record for Louise husband of Benjamin Barnard Lyons died 23 May 1880 age 28 Mossel Bay Cape- their children - Percy Ellis Lyons; Vivian Ashleigh Lyons.

I will post further on the parents and siblings of Benjamin Barnard Lyons. A Death Index Record indicates ( requires confirming) Benjamin B Lyons age 75 Dec qtr 1918 babt 1843 Bath Somerset 5c 930. Probate - 13 Burlington St Bath Benjamin Barnard Lyons died 22 Oct 1918 Probate to Julia Miriam Lyons widow -Effects £184 6s 3d. Confirmation is required for a second marriage.
The London Gazette May 9, 1871 has a bankruptcy record for Benjamin Barnard Lyons 46 Hatton Garden Middx Dealer in Jewellry, Iron Mongery and Fancy Goods.
Initial research suggests Benjamin Barnard Lyons is the son of Morris aka Moses aka Maurice aka Lewis Lyons -surgeon dentist. I will post further on the census and other data relating to the line.

Genealogical Information from the Jewish Newspapers 1861-70 transcribed and edited by Doreen Berger, 2004 Publisher Robert Boyd has the record for the marriage of BB Lyons 12.1.1870 at the residence of the bride's parents 1 Upper Leeson St Dublin - 2nd son of M Lyons LSA Park House Soho Hill Birmingham to Louise Sophia Nerwich. By the 1881 Census Moses Lyons Medical Practioner and Dentist LSA London was living with his wife Sarah and daughter Isabella in Portsea Hampshire-

Various family trees show Moses wife to be Sarah Barnard. In various Trade Directories Moses aka Morris is recorded at 20 Ann Street Soho London Morris Lyons surgeon Dentist 1845 PO Directory; in 1849 at 143 Suffolk St Birmingham and same address in 1855 and in 1866 at 88 New St Redlands Mosely Rd and in 1879 at 15 Hayley Rd Birmingham.

Interestingly, in The Jewish Victorian. Genealogical Information from the Jewish Newspapers 1861-70 transcribed and edited by Doreen Berger, 2004 Publisher Robert Boyd there is a record for the Death of Mary Lyons 12.5.1861 at her sons, 143 Suffolk St Birmingham widow of ABRAHAM LYONS of that Town and mother of Mrs Sydney of 33 Jewry Street Aldgate- S I SYDNEY son in law; M LYONS son. This record indicates that the parents of Moses aka Morris aka Lewis Lyons were Abraham and Mary Lyons.
