Have you checked here? https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/ Is his place of birth repeated on census?

    Hello Ethel
I have copied your question about researching Irish ancestors to the General Irish Family History forum Here so we are not dealing with two completely different subjects here, which could get messy.

Do you have census records for James? For example, the 1851 census of Pilkington, Lancs (HO107/2216, folio 266, page 63) shows the following:

    Stand Lane

James BOARDMAN Head Mar 48 Banksman Lancashire Kersley
Martha do Wife Mar 48 do St Helens
Martha do Daur U 18 Weaver do Kersley
Rupert do Son U 11 Scholar do Pilkington
Elizabeth do Daur 8 do do do

Are you trying to trace forward, backward or both? Kearsley is in the parish of Deane in Bolton, Greater Manchester. There is this baptism on Ancestry's Manchester parish records at St Mary Deane on 10 April 1803 of a James BOARDMAN son of Wm & Esther BOARDMAN which could perhaps be relevant to you.

Where did you get this info from?

Marriage: 16 May 1836 St Peter, Bolton, Lancashire, England
    James Boardman - This parish
    Martha Faulkner - This parish

James & Martha in the census would appear to be married pre 1836…The first census recorded child is Ann born 1829?
How did you link back to this James BOARDMAN? I have read your previous thread about William b 1897/1898 have I missed something?
