Hello from sunny Scotland ( if only!)

Hi everybody. Have been researching family history on and off for about 2 years now. I am researching my mum and dad's families. Surnames DOCHERTY,McGRATH,GALLIE and CLIFT. Finding things at a bit of a standstill and not sure how to progress. Any help and advice from the experts will be more than gratefully accepted.
