Not just 1881; where were Elizabeth and Hannah [1879] in 1891? If their mother had died they could be either with relatives, or in an institution. Often institutions listed inmates by initials onlySo where were they all in 1881?

Ok so that may account for the gap between the marriage and Elizabeths birth, what a pity the earlier censuses didnt show the number of children born as the 1911 does. If those births and deaths were registered though I wonder why we aren't finding the records of births of John, Sarah, Robert and this new Hannah (1879), Seems the more we delve the deeper the mystery becomes.
