    Unhappy More Questions

While I am awaiting all the birth/marriage certificates relating to Emily Ballinger (John Thomas's mother), I have been trying to add more information to the Ballinger Tree.
While Benjamin/Ann Ballinger are the grandparents of John Thomas's. Thanks to everyone on British-Genealogy that have helped me!!
I found this information of Benjamin's parents off of: Rootsweb Ballinger UK Database to be that of Thomas/Mary Ballinger.

    •ID: I3723
    •Name: Thomas\Mary BALLINGER
    •Given Name: Thomas\Mary
    •Surname: Ballinger
    •Sex: M
    •Birth: CA 1788
    •Death: Y

Marriage 1 Mary [--?--] b: CA 1788Children1.Has No Children Thomas BALLINGER b: ABT 1813 in Dormston, WOR, ENG
2.Has No Children John BALLINGER b: ABT 1816 in Dormston, WOR, ENG
3.Has Children Benjamin\Ann BALLINGER b: 1819 in Dormston, WOR, ENG
4.Has No Children Charles\Ann BALLINGER b: ABT 1821 in Dormston, WOR, ENG
5.Has Children Arthur\Emma BALLINGER b: ABT 1828 in Kington, WOR, ENG

Now, when I put in Thomas's circa 1788 information into Family Search, I come up with him being born in 1788 to Benjamin/Betty and buried a few months later...so now, I don't know what to do in this case as there are very few Thomas born in circa 1700's.
How do I go about finding out who his and Mary's parents are?
    Many thanks,
    Shelley

I don't understand the Roots web format, but I'm assuming it is data entered by another person/researcher and therefore wouldn't take it at face value. I also wouldn't solely rely on family search as it doesn't cover every year of every parishes. There will be parishes that haven't been indexed and the only way you can be 100% sure of finding his parents is to check the original parish registers around the parishes he lived, or where he says he was born if you have a place of birth from the census.

You should be able to identify which parishes are likely to contain his baptism and you probably can order the microfilms of the parishes you need via the LDS family history centres. https://familysearch.org/locations/centerlocator

I also use Hugh Wallis site https://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.....htm#PageTitle

and check the worcestershire collection coverage https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/...Church_Records

which shows that Dormston, Worcestershire isn't covered for the time period you are interested in i.e. about 1788

edited to say that Dormston also isn't covered on freereg yet.

I would use Parish Locator https://www.parloc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ParLocDL.html

to identify the parishes around Dormston and then use the Family Search catalogue place name search to find the relevant microfilm numbers for the parishes required

    https://familysearch.org/eng/library...&columns=*,0,0

and microfilms can be ordered for a small fee and viewed at Family History centres.

It may also be useful to take a look at this https://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/cms...m-project.html

to see what parishes have been covered.

edited to say I looked at the coverage of the Worcestershire baptism index from the above link and Dormeston is covered for 1754-1839, so this will be useful to check there first before ordering the original registers ( sometimes additional information is given in the original register that isn't included on indexes ).

    Thanks Michelle,
We do have a local LDS here in town so left message hopefully I can arrange a session or so with them. I feel so in inept when it comes to searching hubby's tree. I truly don't know how to search. Where to search, what to search. I don't know a thing about England's parishes. What is the best map for these little places that show the areas that I need in order to find out what parishes I need to find?
