Hi I'm a new member,
I have discovered my Grandfather, Anthony Dass was a Foreman in a Gold mine in Kola Gold Fields, in Karnataka in India.
He was killed in a mining accident in Kola Goldfields in either 1936 or 1937, it was a public holiday in India as George V had died or it was George VI's coronation. I think he died in Champion Reef mine? I have been told that it will be difficult to get mining records from that time at KGF? Unless the death was registered in the catholic church of which there were five, in Kola Gold Fields. And not sure if he is buried there.
He was married to Ruth Mary Dass, who had five children, Theresa, Anthony Cruz, Iridian? Anthony (my father) born in 1930 and Mari ? They may have all been born there? I know my Grandmother lost the five children for a time until my Grandfather on my Mother's side helped her to get them back which resulted in a court hearing that was held in Ranipet, but not sure of the date?
Can anyone out there help please?
I have no records of either births, deaths or marriage but know that my Grandfather did work at Kola Goldfields but unsure of when and how long he was there. Thank you if you are able to assist with any information.....
