Default Pitchfords wandering around Kent early 1800s

The Pitchford family of Hythe are all descended from the surviving son of the Peninsular War soldier John aka Joseph Pitchford and his wife(?) Ann aka Nancy. John/Joseph survived the war and started collecting his pension in 1816, which is where I lose sight of him. His son, as I can tell from his marriage record and the births of his children, spent the 1820s and 1830s wandering around Kent and into Sussex as a tinker/chimney sweep before finally coming back to Hythe to settle down. Did John/Joseph and Ann/Nancy travel with him? Are they buried in a village somewhere on their wandering route? Both seem to have died by 1837 (the JP who died at Brabourne in 1837 is a young grandson). The family appear in various records under alternative spellings such as Pickford, Bickford and Pitchfork. Has anyone has seen them passing through their area?
