I am looking for any information on the parents and 2nd marriage and children for my grandfather William Henry Langsford born 1859 in Crediton, Devon, England. According to the 1911 Census William Henry was 52 years old. He was married to Hope Ansell in April 1901 and had 9 children (born between 1863 and 1900). He married Lydia Reid in England their first child born 1903. Their childrens names are Marjorie, Walter, Doris, Leonard, Lawrence, Arthur, Phyllis (my mother) and Hilda. William Henry has lived in St Andrew, Devonshire and Shoreditch South as well as Tottenham, Middlesex. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

There is a one year old William H Langsford living in Crediton on the 1861 census RG9/1472/46/11 at High Street, Crediton

Do you have either of his marriage certs which would give his father's name?

Ancestry London Marriages has his marriage at St Mark, Old Street to Hope Ansell 6/4/1884 which confirms his father as Thomas Langsford - Carpenter.

So the above looks good for being your man in 1861.

Something not quite right here.

Even more curious there is a death of Hope Langsford age 41 June qtr 1905 - Edmonton 3a -219

2 years after William's first child with Lydia ?

Lydia Giltnane can be found on the 1901 census RG13/1247/42/4 at 265 Park Lane, Tottenham

She is wife of Patrick b1862 in Madras British Subject a warehouseman in an oil cloth factory.

They have three children Lydia b1898, Patrick b1899, Michael b1900.

There is no death for Patrick 1901 - 1911 and neither he or the three children appear on the 1911 census (well I cannot find them!)

Patrick Giltnane married Dec qtr 1896 Edmonton 3a 680 and one of the names that also appears is

On the same page is a bap of Albert Michael Langsford s/o Hope Howard Langsford (William's daughter)
