Here is part 2 of my town by Keith Owen
In these set of pictures can be seen, amongst others, Lord Baden Powell when he visited town and Lloyd George attending the funeral of Sir Francis Edwards, Liberal M.P.

Good stuff, Terry! I guess scenes like that wouldn't be unfamiliar to many of us, even those growing up in the 1950s. The 'modernisation' of the 60s and 70s ripped a lot out without producing much of any value.
Did you know that Knighton gets a mention in poetry? In a rather sad little poem from A E Housman's "A Shropshire Lad" - see item L at https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~m...sman.html#ASLl. Housman wasn't the Knighton lad of the poem, although he, like you, grew up in the Marches. The poem was also set to music by Vaughan Williams in "On Wenlock Edge".

Thank you for the link John. I had heard of the poem but never heard or read it. Now I have.
Thanks again.
