    Question Military Prison in 1897

    I have found out that an ancestor was given 2 months (July to Sept) in prison in Portsmouth for being AWOL from the Empress of India. Does anyone know how I can find out which prison he ended up in?

    You mean Royal Navy?

    Presumably the RN Detention Quarters, Portsmouth (now a Grade II listed building)
