Can anyone help me find Edward and his family. I only have the 1851 census of them. then they all disappear.

Edward Drayton b. Dec 1827, Bottesford, Lincolnshire (although probably Ashby) and Maria Thomas b. 04 May 1827 Winterton, Lincolnshire, were married on 31 Dec 1847 in Winterton, Lincolnshire.

    They had 2 daughters.

Mary Ann. baptised 11 Mar 1849 Snitterby, Lincolnshire
Sarah Elizabeth. baptised 13 Apr 1851 Snitterby, Lincolnshire

    1851 HO107 / 2115 / 337 / 4

    Address: Cliff, Wadingham, Lincolnshire

Edward 23 (1828) Ag Lab Ashby, Lincolnshire
Maria Wife 23 (1828) Winterton, Lincolnshire
Mary Ann daughter 2 (1849) Waddingham, Lincolnshire

(Snitterby is only a mile from Waddington)

Edward was the son of John and Mary nee Clarke
Maria was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah nee Courtis.

Did they all die in some family tragedy or maybe emigrate?

Any help at all would be great.

    Terry

I think you've struck gold, Megan!

Charlotte E. Drayton, daughter of Edward Drayton and Maria Thomas, married Fred Fennell in Guelph, Wellington, Ontario on 26 Feb 1887 according to FamilySearch.

There's another later marriage, for Charlotte E. Fennell (daughter of Edward Drayton and Maria Tommos) to John H. McDowell, in Cleveland, Cuyahogo County, Ohio in September 1901, giving her age as 33 and birthplace as Guelph, Ontario. You can see the marriage register here:

Some other children turn up on FamilySearch too: try putting in father's name Edward Drayton and mother's name Maria.

Other than the 1851 I cannot find them on another British Census, I don't have a world wide sub to find out when they emigrated.
If you would like this thread moved to another forum then please do ask. It is about the only help I can give on this query.

    Pipped Lizzy, just saw same.
John Drayton said to be born Ontario 1856, so that cuts down time of leaving UK.

The 1901 census conflicts with info provided on 1871? It says Edward immigrated in 1854, if correct none of the cildren on 1871 can have been born in England, wouldn't be the first time info doesn't match up.

    1901, Guelph, Ontario.

Edward Drayton 74, Engineer, immig. year 1854, Methodist, England.
Thomas Gibson 27, son in law, Finisher, Presbyterian, Ontario
    Minnie J Gibson 29, dau
    Roy Thos Gibson 1, grandson
