Thank you very much, yet again Pottoka. So his wife was Esther hmmm.

The only marriage I can find for him is

Marriages Sep 1906 and the only 2 females on the same page are Ellen Elizabeth HILL and Ethel RICHARDSON.

Thank you very much for getting the info for me.

Going to sit in the sun and ponder this for a while.

    Thank you again

His wife is called Esther on the 1911 Census, yet the two possibles for him to marry are an Ellen Elizabeth Hill or an Ethel Richardson (York 1906). What's more, on Ancestry, they have transcribed him as being a Commercial Traveller in ... dings! It actually says drugs, squashed up, then drugs wholesale, quite clearly in the next column.

For your further edification, Esther died in 1946:

    Name: Esther Wright
    Probate Date: 3 May 1946
    Death Date: 1 Jan 1946
    Death Place: Yorkshire, England
    Registry: Yorkshire, England

WRIGHT Esther of Nun Mill-street Scarcroft-road York widow died 1 January 1946 Administration York 3 May to Florence Esther Wright spinster. Effects £286.

So do you think there was hanky-panky going on? Maybe Ethel was mistranscribed when the pages were typed up. It definitely says Ethel cos I looked.

You sit in the sun; I'm trying to keep cool (it's very close & trying to thunder), but I'm going to drink my tea as my last one went cold. Beurck, nothing worse than cold tea.

When I saw Terry's first request I was sitting at the computer logged in to Ancestry so I responded straight away. Since then I've been out for a couple of hours and have been pipped to the post on the other requests.

Sorry Terry but well done gang.

I've found the birth of Floence Esther Wright in York in 1910.

As for Esther/ Ethel well...... I though this family was to easy to trace.

I have to agree. Althogh, I don't like tea. It always leaves my mouth tasting like I've been sucking on a penny. Coffee's my prefered choice.
