Hi Coromandel
Thank you for your two replies. So far I have been lucky with being able to find (most) records with anyone born after 1750 (ish) but now am starting to hit the brick walls with people born before then. But then, this is the first family I have been able to trace this far back. (My father's family is of German origin so that's a whole other bag!!)
Much appreciate the help and advice given by yourself and Sandie.
I will send an update - it may help someone else
