    The writing is pretty horrid but don't give up: there's a great deal of interesting material in this volume and if you're persistent you may just find a little gem. This is real family history!!

    The more you study it, the more you will begin to understand what the records mean. There are references to people being admitted, readmitted, discharged; payments for people who are sick; payments for funerals; I have spotted one instance so far of a woman who had an illegitimate child in the workhouse (the father is named). There's also an agreement with someone to employ a woman from the workhouse as long as some of her wages go towards maintenance of her 'bastard children' in the workhouse.

    It's a bit difficult for me to join in the search as you haven't told us what the surname is yet.

    Oops, the mother was Anne Bagg(e), I haven't got any other information on her (BDM) so not sure of her origins or where she ended up.
