Default Does anyone recognise this man?

This picture of him is on the wall of the Penny Black public house in Bicester and is next to portraits of Oliver Cromwell and Charles I.

However, his clothing is of a far later date than the civil war and I estimate that he was from the late 1800s.

Both my friend and myself tried to think of men that he may have been but had no luck.

    Definitely not Civil war era.

Have you googled for famous men born/lived/died in Bicester?

We thought it might have been Sir Rowland Hill or Anthony Trollope as they were involved with the post office (the pub is named after the penny black stamp and is in the old post office building) but he is neither of those two.

I think it might be Henry Albert Collins who was the architect that designed the post office building that the Penny Black public house now stands in. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of him that appear to be readily available.
