To continue with Nathaniel Bunch and War of 1812 records:
===========================================
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3....19&wc=11893743
Nathaniel Bunch, Private, McCory's Reg't, West Tennessee Militia
War of 1812
=============================================
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3....-36?cc=1834325
Name: Nathaniel Bunch
Event: Pension Application
Military Unit: Pvt Capt Abel Willis' Co Tenn Mil
Spouse: Sarah Ray
NARA Publication Title: Index to War of 1812 Pension Application Files
================================================== ===
Fold3 (formerly footnote.com) is in the process of scanning in the 1812 pension applications, but as of today are only 3% complete, and the record(s) you want is not there yet.
On the archives.gov (US National Archives) site, I could only find reference to muster and payroll files of fulltime army and navy soldiers and sailors, not the state militias. Next stop, the TN State Archives.
I have to say, I had more fun doing this today than I have had in quite some time. Thanks for that, Colin.

Hi, Colin.
I have one more batch of links/notes. I think the first one here best addresses your original post:
==================================================
https://www.tennessee.gov/tsla/histor...ry/1812reg.htm
Tennessee State Archives
Regimental Histories of Tennessee Units During the War of 1812
CTRL+F and search for McCrory
It appears that Nathaniel was one of only 20 men in the Regiment who stayed on at General Jackson's request - which probably explains why he got a land bounty and pension.
================================================== =
https://boards.rootsweb.com/localitie...n/2175/mb.ashx
Rootsweb Message board for Overton Co, TN about Nathaniel and Sara Bunch
Nathaniel b. Apr 23, 1793 in Louisa co, VA
================================================== ==
Findagrave - Duplicate or over-verbose records for these Bunch's in Newton and Carroll Counties, AR - photos of Bradley Bunch there.
I'm a little irritated by the member(s) who regurgitated so much of the information from the other sources onto the FG listing.
One item of interest that might be a fun exercise to trace:
Nathaniel and Sarah Bunch supposedly are direct ancestors of Pres Obama via Kansas connection (his mother was from there).
Let me know if you need further help, but I think you have plenty to chew on for awhile.
