Hello
Please can you help, I thought I had found Maria Moore's history, but now I have accessed the 1911 census it looks like i have been going down the wrong track all along.
1909 maria moore married my grandad William Longworth.
In the 1911 census they are living in Blackburn with their daughter Sara.
On the census marias age is 30 which would mean she was born in 1881.
I have been tracing 1891 Maria, which now looks like I was wrong.
I cant find anything for a Maria Moore born in Blackburn in 1881.
I am so frustrated I feel like throwing everything in the bin, I thought I had traced my Great Grandparents but now it looks like all that searching was down the wrong path.
Please can anyone help.Thanks
Helen

I think the census has got her age wrong. she had her last child in 1937 so she would have been 57 thats impossible.
could the census be wrong ?

Hello Helen,
Please would you post the census references that you have been looking at. That way, those who have access can have a look at the originals and see if there are any mistakes with the ages for Maria.

Well having looked at the census records for 1901 & 1911 for Maria I am inclined to the view that the 1911 age for her is in error for three reasons 1. she is a ring spinner in the cotton industry the same as her sisters in the 1901 census 2. she is born in Blackburn on both censuses 3. her age in the 1911 census appears to have been altered and may have originally been 20. Not conclusive evidence but your best bet would be to get that marriage certificate and see who her parents were.
