Can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain a death cert for my mother's first husband, who died in Sicily in August 1943?
Many thanks

From the usual place
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ce...es/default.asp
Just specify that it's an Overseas event. You don't need the GRO reference but if you wish you can look it up on Findmypast or in person at the usual places where copies of the indexes are held
Be aware that the certificate may not be very informative.

Thank you. I stupidly assumed that as I couldn't find him on the BMD website that it wouldn't be on the GRO database and that I couldn't apply for the death certificate here.
Are you suggesting that the information will be scant as to cause of death? He was 'killed in action' in Sicily and buried there.
