Does Anyone Know?

I have an ancestor born in Drum, Leith, Ireland. Could anyone tell me where that might be as I don't know Ireland well enough and so far I am not clear that I am looking in the right place.

Could it be Drumlish, in County Longford.

Unfortunately that is all I have to go on as all previous census entries give just Ireland. Not until 1911 is a place name given but thanks for the suggestion.

There are two or three places called Drum in Ireland (see the entries either side of this page)>

I don't know what the Leith connection is though.

Well, on the Natinal Archives of Ireland site there are numerous places called Drum. Just put DRUM in the Townland/street box on this page> https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Any chance that Leith was a mis-hearing of Meath?

In the census it is quite clearly written as Drumleith, Leitrim, which when I tried a search came up with nothing. I was just hoping someone may have known it. Will just have to keep digging.

In that case, it was probably Drumlease, County Leitrim. Easy enough for leith and lease to become confused.

Oh.....that's only 30 minutes from where I live.

I didn't know you knew it was in Leitrim.
