Good morning all.
Can somebody please help me?
I'm researching the life of my cousin who was a japanese pow. I have him being captured on Java 08/03/1942, and being transported on the Dainichi Maru to Japan via Singapore to Honshu ( Mukaishima). I then lose him again until i find him being liberated from Hiroshima#4 Mukaishima camp in 45, so it looks like he stayed in the same camp.
Oral family history says he was transported to an Australian hospital for treatment and recovery and eventually repatriated to the UK after about 12 months in Australia.
Can anybody tell me on what ship he was transferred to Australia ?, where was he hospitalised? and when and where he was repatriated to the UK.
His details are.
THOMAS, John Ernest Arthur.
Service Number, 548292, rank LAC, 84 Squadron, RAF.

Have you read the research guides?

https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...-1939-1953.htm
You will probably need to commission some research.

Thank you Peter for that info. I will try and get a family member in the UK to delve into the records for me.
