I have a William Harvey White born 1851 Plaitford, wiltshire England
He enlisted 1870
Have a document enclosed with his Attestation Papers saying he was charged with theft. Hence sent to court.
Does anyone know how I can search for prison records??
He was most certainly a shady character and loved his booze. Several charges and docked pay while in the service.
Thus I have only been able to get up to 1871 with the Census. Where he was in Aldershot.
Would appreciate finding more information on him I can, Kinda stuck now

Go to https://www.national.archives.gov.za/ and click on Search NAAIRS on left. Choose NAB and enter Harvey and White. It brings up three documents relating to the criminal case. Note the reference numbers. Now go to eggsa.org (put www in front) and follow the FAQ under Document Ordering Service on the home page. You can be e-mailed copies of the documents, photographed by eggsa volunteers, for a token fee.
