I am trying to prove that my Jane Johnson of St. Helens was wife #2.
Could someone please tell me how to find a complete Death Cert from 1877-1880?
Thank you

There are these two in the index.
Deaths Jun 1879
Johnson Jane 39 Prescot 8b 439
Deaths Dec 1880
Johnson Jane 51 Prescot 8b 506
Decide which one is yours and order the death certificate at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
If you can't be sure which is yours, don't quote any of the above particulars, just provide the information you're sure about and the date range and specify that it should describe her as the "wife of [insert the man's name here]". The registration district was Prescot.

Since Peter is currently offline ...
Where it says -- > Occupation of deceased.
I take it the husband was still alive at this point and he hadn't predeceased her, otherwise you should put, widow of [insert the man's name here].
Please note that you will only be able to specify something for the occupation if on the first page you tick NO for "Is the GRO Index Reference Number known?". Then you get the following fields and those that are highlighted with a red star are required fields...
Year death was registered
Surname of deceased *
Forenames of deceased *
Date of death (dd/mm/yyyy) * (If you do not know the exact date enter 01/01/####, we will search the specified year and one either side)
Age at death in years (for infants less than 1 year please state 0)
Place of death or last known address *
Occupation of deceased
Marital status (if female)

Hi, Not sure if this is your Jane Johnson but there is a burial in St Helens of a Jane Johnson on the 2nd January 1881 aged 51 years. You can see the details on the St Helens MBC site the URL is
https://crem.oltps.sthelens.gov.uk/cr...let/Telesearch
when the record come up click the surname for more details. If you then click VIEW under the Grave Detials you get the other Interments for that Grave which may help you decide if it is the correct person.

I think so. I have her BD and marriage.
In looking for her kids I think I found her husband in the next census with a new wife while the children list is the same.
Just trying to nail down Jane's death to prove this is the same family.
She did disappear from all later records as well.
