Default Free Scottish certificates and census records

A new member has mentioned that he has obtained access to free Scottish certificates and census records on the web. Does anyone know where these are located? Googling didn't give me anything more helpful than Scotlandspeople, which is not free.

    Hi

There is no free access to images of Scottish certificates or censuses on the internet, the only access is through Scotlandspeople which is the Scottish Government website. It is possible to access the images at some locations in Scotland, some of them may be free and others such as in Edinburgh may charge a daily fee.

There are transcriptions of Scottish censuses on various sites such as Ancestry & FMP, also FreeCen has some coverage.

Familysearch is useful in that they have the indexes of Scottish births and marriages 1855 to 1875 that are sourced from the Statutory Registers, these help in finding the events on Scotlandspeople
