I am trying to find information about Oscar Movely, Father of Gertrude. Gertrude was born 1882 and died 1917 in Hunslet, Yorkshire. She married William Joseph Eagers 9/12/1908 in Leeds. Any help would be most welcome.

The marriage index for William Joseph Eagers shows two entries for spouse, one for Gertrude MOVLEY and one for Gertrude MOOLEY. There is a marriage image from the West Yorkshire Marriages and Banns on Ancestry for an Oscar Ellis MOOLEY to Louisa MISDALE in Leeds All Souls 1881, banns being read on Oct 30, Nov 6 and Nov 13. His address was Carlton Cross St and hers was Portland Crescent
Looking at the original image it could be read as either MOVLEY or MOOLEYSue Mackay

Thanks very much, that all ties in as William and Gertrude had a daughter named Louisa (after her grandmother). Louisa was my grandmother. William Joseph Eagers was a professional rugby player with Hunslet.

Terry59,
I'm trying to track down direct descedants of players who played in the England team versus Other Nationalities at Wigan on 1st Jan 1906.
William Eagers was one of those players, who played alongside my great grandfather. What I'm trying to determine is if there was a team photo taken on that day and does anyone have a copy that they would be prepared to scan for me. I haven't had any luck so far, but can you help or put me in contact with another relative who may be able to?

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on this site for a long time.
I don't have a copy of this photo but Millom Rugby League Club or one of their members, Craig Evans, who can be contacted at
bethrhidec AT tiscali DOT co DOT uk may be able to help you. Bill also played for Hunslet, who may have something.Last edited by Pam Downes; 30-12-2017 at 12:23 AM. Reason: Email address disguised to deter spammers

Oscar Ellis MOVLEY died June qtr 1908 Tadcaster RD, aged 51. The spelling definitely seems to have been MOVLEY, which is why it so often gets transcribed as MORLEY
