    Default James Smith

James Smith is one of my gt gt gt grandfathers. He was born about 1801 in EVESHAM, Worcestershire. He married in Sept 1829 in Tewkesbury. Can anyone find his baptism, or suggest where I might look?

    Thanks

Without wishing to sound facetious, have you looked in the parish registers for Evesham? (You don't actually say whether you have or haven't. )
If you mean, 'where do I find the Evesham registers', then that's a slightly different question.
Evesham had two churches, Evesham All Saints and Evesham St Lawrence. Registers for both churches are on microfilm at the History Centre. https://www.
    worcestershire.gov.uk/cms/records.aspx

I can't see that the LDS have films for the time period that you want.

p.s. The History Centre also has the registers for Bredon..

thanks for your reply. I will now contact the Worcestershire History Centre to see if someeone there could look for me, as I live in an entirely different part of the country and can't get there.

Probably not yours but as Pam has mentioned Bredon could this be him?

Free Reg has James Smith born 1/11/1802, baptized 13/3/1803 - St. Giles, Bredon.
Father - John. Mother - Fanny. Abode - Norton.
    File No. 21163.

Unfortunately my geographic knowledge of the Evesham area is so limited as not to be able to comment. However, I thank you for your efforts.

Tut tut, Megan, it's called look at a map.
    I always use www.
streetmap.co.uk for starters, but there's also google maps, bing, and probably several others.

You'll also need to know where Bredon is if you want to find out anything about Lucy Millard.

    tut tut Pam
You really ought to remember which thread you are talking about - this thread is about James Smith and Evesham. My thread about Lucy Millard and Westmancote/Bredon is an entirely separate one.
