    Can anyone id this ship for me. The picture is taken around 1957

    I'm not an expert, but she looks like a Tribal Class destroyer, e.g.

    But without a number, who knows which one? That site has service records which may identify her if you have anything to match with.

    I believe it is the Duchess. I just looked up Daring Class Destroyers and The Name Duchess rings a bell with me Dads old stories and indeed it was in the Suez War.

    HMAS Duchess was a Daring-class destroyer that served in the Royal Navy as HMS Duchess from 1952 to 1964, and in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) from 1964 to 1980.

    If she was involved in the 1956 Suez operation she must be either HMS Defender or HMS Daring - I think these were the only two Daring class vessels involved.
