    Default RAF

    I have recently received my father's WW2 records.
    Could someone tell me which squadrons/sections/ airfields "10 S FLT" and RAF YR (orVR) are? They are under the "Unit from" column.

    Thanks

    RAF VR = Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve

    When was the 10 S Flt entered, at the beginning of his service?

    FLT = flight

    Thanks Neil. It was after a few months:

    RAF VR - Oxford TC
    Oxford TC - Feltwell
    Feltwell - 51 S Flt and 10 S Flt
    and plenty more.

    Hi Buddy,

    I have also obtained my father's WW2 RAF records. I found that most of it was in "code" although it did come with 4 pages of abbreviations which were only slightly helpful.

    I wrote to the RAF -- the address was on the covering letter which accompanied the records -- and asked for information about all the abbreviations I didn't understand or couldn't decode.

    They provided me with 3 pages of chapter and verse about all of them which was a great help.

    It's worth asking the RAF for further information. In my case I found it well worth the cost of a stamp.

    All the best,
