My great grandfather's brother, Michael Donahoe, died in Brooklyn on Nov 27th 1914 and his death certificate says he was buried in Calvary Cemetery. I take this to be the Calvary Cemetery now in the borough of Queens. My cousin and I are thinking of going to the New York area later this year and we'd like to go to his grave. So how do I find out the plot number?
There is a chap who advertises a service on the internet, Jim at NYCgen, but I mailed him last summer and didn't get a response. There is also a listing for the cemetery office, which gives the address but not a phone number or an e-mail address. Is it as simple as turning up at the cemetery office, and getting the plot number, a map, and details of who else is in the grave? I imagine I need to be better prepared than that! What's the procedure for finding a grave in Calvary Cemetery?
Happy new year to all!
