    Default Exeter Cemetery Records

I'm not sure if this is already common knowledge or not (I've since found it on GENUKI), but thanks to a post on the Devon FHS Web board

I just discovered that the Exeter City Council has scanned alphabetical index cards for the three cemeteries they manage: Topsham Cemetery (opened 1856); Higher Cemetery (1866); and Exwick Cemetery (1877). These cemeteries include over 100,000 individuals, with the largest number (70,000) in Higher Cemetery. I just found the burial information for my great-grandmother's brother, who died in 1878 at age 20.

The index cards can be viewed online at: https://pub.exeter.gov.uk/asp/bereavement/. They are arranged by cemetery and by surname, with one PDF file for each letter of the alphabet. Recent interments are not listed.

    Hope this helps someone -

    Tim
