Help on Birth Certificate

I have a birth certificate for the birth of a girl Ann (who is my great grandma). There is no name for Father. But, on the Mother's name it reads

Margaret Ann Turner
a
Reg Porter

Any ideas on what that means? I would be so grateful.

Based on the length of the words I wonder if it could be Rag Sorter, but an 'S' wouldn't look much like a 'P' so I'm not very confident about that being the right answer. Perhaps you could post an image of the troublesome words to see if anyone can decipher them?

I was just about to post and say I'd had another look and it says 'Rag Porter'
