Well, first starting with the census in the hope that Morgan DAVIES is still alive, I looked in Glamorganshire concentrating on the Merthy Tydfil area.

1841: Piece: 1415 Book/Folio: 6/11 Page: 14 (Hamlet of Gellideg)
Patriot Street, Merthyr Tydfil
OWEN, Anne, 60, Ind.
DAVIES, Morgan, 70, collier
DAVIES, Mary, 15, Glamorgan
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1841: Piece: 1414 Book/Folio: 8/5 Page: 2
Maesyranmharsh, Gellygare, Cefn, Merthyr Tydfil
MORGAN, Rees, 45, Glamorgan
MORGAN, Catherine, 45, Glamorgan
MORGAN, George, 20, Glamorgan
MORGAN, Rees, 20, Glamorgan
MORGAN, Mary, 14, Glamorgan
MORGAN, Sarah, 12, Glamorgan
MORGAN, Elizabeth, 9, Glamorgan

DAVIES, Morgan, 70, clothier, Glamorgan
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1841: Piece: 1415 Book/Folio: 4/41 Page: 12
Cwm Glo, Merthyr Tydfil
DAVIS, Morgan, 60, miner, Glamorgan
DAVIS, David 15, haulier, Glamorgan
DAVIS, Gwenllian, 15, Glamorgan
(This enumeration district cover the west of Aberdare Rd, from George Town to Aberdare Rd, from Rhydycar from the mountains to the Taff )
Note: This Morgan DAVIS is possibly in the 1851 census still in Cwm Glo. Piece: 2458 Folio: 158 Page: 30
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
None of these seem to stand out as your Morgan. Since Merthyr Tydfil is a large parish, if you want to get an idea of where in Merthyr each of the above were living and how far from Dowlais, see here.
There are another four contenders living in Glamorgan in the 1841 census but they are located away from Merthyr Tydfil, apart from one in Aberdare (married to a Jane?) Most of these other contenders appear to be with a spouse who is not named Margaret and with children, (bearing in mind that relationships are not stated in the 1841 census.) However, we can’t rule out the possibility that Morgan may have married again. It also may be the case that Morgan died before 1841. Perhaps his wife Margaret made it to 1841 or later but there are a LOT of Margaret DAVIES in the census. I can post the census details of these other Morgan DAVIES contenders if you think it would help.
So, nothing useful so far! I’ll have a look at the census for Monmouthshire next and then poke through the National Burial Index to see if there is anything there that stands out.

Now I'm a bit confused as I posted the census details for the 1851 census for this Morgan in post #5 but you appeared to indicate this was not your Morgan in post #6.
But never thee mind as perhaps I misinterpreted. I will post the complete census details for all to look at.
Possibly in the 1841 census here…

The only thing that bothers me slightly is that Ebenezer DAVID stated his father Morgan was a gardener on his marriage in 1856. However, presuming that Morgan retired from farming sometime between 1851 and 1861, then perhaps he took up gardening to keep himself occupied. Have you looked for a will for Morgan?
I can see three potential baptism for this Morgan on FreeREG. I will post the details in a moment.

Here are three potential baptisms at St Bride's Major ...
Morgan on the 29 Mar 1773 at Saint Bride's Major. Father Henry DAVID
Morgan on the 23 Jun 1775 at Saint Bride's Major. Father Mathew DAVID
Morgan on the 28 Oct 1781 at Saint Bride's Major. Father Mathew DAVID, Mother Cecil
www.
freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl
Trying to estimate his birth date…
1841: born abt 1780 (probably the least accurate since the ages of the adults appear to have been rounded down.)
1851: born abt 1777
1861: born abt 1772
Est. birth date for the Morgan DAVID who died in 1869 is 1771.
So, on average this would be born abt 1775. Perhaps the first baptism is the likeliest but it is rather a guess.

If the 1851 census is correct Morgan Davies these bits of info may (or may not!) be relevant: from F/search.
Morgan David W b1789 St Brides Minor, farmer
Children:
Thomas b1831 Coity
John b1839 Coity
Margaret b1843 St Brides Major
Thinking this may be yr Morgan's children from a 2nd marriage (as Olliecat states in thread 11) but as he's Wid. no name for wife.
Christening for Morgan David 4 mar 1789 St Brides Minor
Parents: Jenkin David + Margaret
3 possible marriages for Jenkin Davies and a Margaret:
Margaret Adams 21 feb 1784 Merthyrmawr
Margaret John 8 june 1787 Llangyfelach
(husband Jenkin b1762 Llangyfelach)
Margaret (no surname) 1788 Merthyr Tudful
(burial for Margaret 17 mar 1744 of Merthyr Tudful)
One more thing, in thread 6 "possible Mary David 05/05/1801" F/search has this as the death date for Mary, but no dob listed.

Any will or administration proved from 1858 onward would be listed in the National Probate Calendar (this is an index to wills and administrations.) This index is available to search on Ancestry. I did have a look after I posed the question to you but unfortunately I couldn't see an entry for Morgan DAVID. I also checked to see if there was an entry for Ebenzer DAVID but no luck there either.
Note: There are some gaps in the index on Ancestry for the years 1863, 1868, 1873, 1876, 1877, 1883, 1888, 1899-1903 and 1910-1911.
