    Default romford cemetery records

    Hello everyone,

I am searching for information about my GMother, and Aunt.
They are buried together in Romford Burial Ground.
    My GMother is:

    Lizzie Smart
Date of Burial: July 24th 1974

    Elizabeth McMaster
Date of Burial: Feb. 22nd 1964

    Grave Reference: KK/1847

Would it be possible to find out the cause of both deaths?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,

    Santana

Yes, by ordering the death certificates. Burial records do not include cause of death.

    Hi,

Just thought I'd mention that there is a very, very slight chance of picking up a reason for death from a burial record, it appears to happen occasionally if the death is accidental, a plague or something similar. Of late I've given the online Essex PRs a hammering in order to get as much done as possible before the PRs went Pay to View. A couple of deaths I noticed were a child's death from drowning and one of a man falling off a Wagon and going under a wheel or wheels, a while back I saw another similar horse and cart death, another of a person who stepped into the path of a horse and cart, also found one of a man who was death was recorded as "fell from a Walnut tree". I've often wondered whether the guy was supposed to be picking the Walnuts or perhaps scrumping them.

What the odds are against finding a cause of death in a burial record are I have no idea but they would be large I suspect.

    Regards.

Thank you for replying to my email!
What then, do the burial records say, just the date of burial?
    Thanks,

In older parish registers, yes. I've got one or two myself such as my candidate for the Darwin Award who shot himself while clambering over a gate. However, you wouldn't find that in a 1964 municipal cemetery register.

    Hi Peter,

I should have mentioned that my comments referred to only Parish Burial Registers, to date I've had no experience with Municipal Cemetery Registers although that's about to change soon. I know where my maternal grandparents were buried, the Chelmsford Writtle Road Cemetery and the date they died but not the burial date.

    Regards
