I'm looking for any additional information on the Hale family who lived in Shellingford in the 16th and 17th centuries. I have already recorded every entry in the parish registers (I own the CD copy of the transcriptons) as well as checked out the "Index to wills proved and administrations granted in the court of the archdeacon of Berks, 1508 to 1652" and found two relevant wills (I've written to the Berkshire records office for a copy of one of them).

The earliest Hale in the area in my family was Thomas Hale (my distant uncle) who was baptising his children in the late 16th and early 17th centuries in Shellingford and who was an overseer there in 1600. The registers start shortly before that. At this point, I have no idea if he came from that area originally, or came from elsewhere (two of his brothers lived in Gloucestershire, and one in Worcestershire). Any information, or ideas, would be gratefully accepted.
