    Default 1871 Census

Hi am wondering if anyone knows where to search for the 1871 / 81 census please (if at all!)

This is following on from Rebecca HAWKES and Arthur DEVEREUX having married in / near the Carlisle Barracks

My thoughts are that so far I cannot find Rebecca and her family

Father - Francis and mother Mary Ann after Rebecca's birth in Woolich Kent.

Would an 18 year old travel to Ireland on her own to get married?

She was from Kent and her husband to be was a serving soldier originally from Manchester and they move back to Liverpool.

I'm thinking it would be highly unlikely, so the other option I thought about was what if her family moved to be with a battalion of soldiers - Francis was a tailor.

There are no surviving Irish censuses before 1901.

There is an earlier thread on this couple, where some census suggestions have already been made.

I've copied post #1 across to that thread, to keep all the information on this family together. If you can help please reply on the other thread. This thread is now closed.
